And . . . if you do feel like heading to the actual movie theater . . . I highly, highly recommend the Barbie movie. It’s a lot of fun! Funny, charming, entertaining . . . and you may even want to have a tissue handy at the end. I’ve seen it twice — once with Tom, and once with my sister — and I’ll probably see it again at some point. (If you want to watch it at home, you’ll be able to purchase it through Amazon Prime beginning September 5 for $24.99. And if you can wait until late September, I understand it will be available for streaming on HBO/Max.)

My thanks to the following Dancing At the Edge readers for recommending their favorite movies of summer: Diane, Kat, Bonny, Vera, Linda, Vicki, Chloe, Debbie, Kim, Sarah, Lynn, Carole, Dale, Carolyn, Pam, Jane, Suzanne, Karel, Patty, and Tom.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my monthly Summer Vibes posts. Here are links to the posts from June and July:

So many movies! I’ll be there for the Classics and Silly Fun. Maybe we need to hold a Summer Vibes Weekend because I’d love to see a few movies, eat from that BBQ menu, and see everyone in person!
What Bonny said!!! Great fun Kym!
I sure have enjoyed your Summer Vibes posts Kym – thanks so much for pulling it (and us) all together! And yeah to what Bonny said – a weekend (we’d really need more time though) of us all together watching movies (I might sleep some – lol), listening to fab music and consuming wonderful food!!! I’m ready to pack my knitting for a get together.
I’ve really enjoyed your Summer Vibes series and think there are some great movie suggestions on this list! I haven’t seen Barbie yet but I do plan on it.
I agree with what Bonny said-it sounds like fun!
Reading over your lists of good summer movies, music, & food has me making plans for Labor Day weekend!
What an incredible list of movies! And I am nodding in agreement with Bonny’s suggestion! XO
So many I want to rewatch!
American Graffiti is one of my all-time favorites (and I’m really NOT a movie watcher). It is a pretty cheesy movie, but hey, that’s okay. You can’t beat the soundtrack and oh my ……John Milner’s CAR!!!
I have to start watching some movies. I do stop if I’m flipping channels and find one I want to watch but some weekends I just put on one channel and it’s just background noise to my reading and knitting,
These are all fabulous suggestions (well, I’ll probably skip the scary movies because they aren’t my thing)! A number of the titles under Classics are ones I can always watch when I find them on TV, so it seems like they’re correctly categorized. And I agree with you completely about Barbie! I really didn’t expect to cry, but I did!
What fun. Your post reminds me that we don’t watch many movies. Maybe this will inspire us to check out some of our past favorites.
