One minute you’re just sitting in your recliner (not even reclining, mind you) with your morning coffee and a manageable plan for the day. And the next minute you’re getting up from the chair but realize – too late – that your Birkenstock (with foot inside) has somehow gotten stuck under the chair (how? who knows) and it was going . . . nowhere.
Momentum, being what it is, ensued.
Result? Sprained ankle.
I’m fine and healing well. But what a pain in the ass!
I was not in the mood to blog last week, but I’m back now.
Life comes at you fast, y’know?
==========
(Just an FYI . . . the photo above is BEFORE the bruising started. That discolored line above the ice bag? That’s just my summer tan line from said Birkenstocks. I’ll spare you the actual bruising views.)

I do hope you’re healing and can get around without much pain. Thanks for pointing out yet another pitfall that I will need to be aware of. I don’t wear Birkenstocks as I’ve found that I need to have my shoes firmly attached to me feet, but I do occasionally sit in a dangerous recliner.
The visual of a the heel being stuck in place by the chair as you TRIED to take a step made my ankle twist. Those missteps can wreak havoc with our bones or muscles. Sending healing vibes to you and I hope recover was fast! Yes, what Bonny said. I’d be flat on my face from my first step in Birkenstocks.
Bummer! The older I get the less I can take these life-interrupters in stride. Somehow as a child I was not bothered by weeks in bed with measles/ mumps/ chicken pox/etc. Probably because I knew I had a whole lot of life left to go…thank goodness there is knitting, reading, catching up with friends on the phone…Good wishes that your ankle healing time flies by!
Oh dear – so sorry to read this. I hope you have some lovely diversions for the healing process.
I’m so sorry – I broke or badly bruised a toe this summer MAKING A BED. So frustrating. And part of me just wanted to have done it in a more glamorous way 😉 Do take good care.
Ouch, that sounds painful! I’m glad it’s only a sprain — it could have been much worse! Sounds like a good opportunity to put your feet up and enjoy a good book or two.
