Calico Rust Blobs: A Shawl

Pattern:  Calico

Designer: Dawn Barker

Yarn:  Barker Wool BFL in the Verity colorway

Needles: US 5

Timing:  I cast on in early May during the Modern Daily Knitting online workshop with Dawn Barker, and then worked on it here and there through the summer, finishing up in mid-July.

Notes and Modifications: I knit the shawl exactly as specified in the pattern. No modifications. Once I learned the floret stitch and didn’t have to look at the directions every time I came to the rust sections of yarn, I really enjoyed the rhythm of the knit and found it quite relaxing. I was always eager to see what the NEXT row would bring! This is a great knit to . . . practice letting go of perfection and embracing the random wonkiness!

And what will I do with it:  I don’t typically care for this shape when it comes to shawls, but this one is actually narrow enough that I may actually be able to wear it as a big ol’ scarf. We’ll see. Otherwise, it will live happily in my shawl drawer with its mates . . .
