Pattern: Saltwater Bandana

Yarn: I couldn’t resist the Purl Soho promotional shots, so I used the exact yarn used in the pattern. . . Purl Soho’s Japanese Denim Cotton in the Deep Denim colorway. I wish I would’ve gone ahead and also purchased the yarn in the Classic Denim colorway when I ordered, but I didn’t. And now it’s sold out. (Actually, all the Japanese Denim Cotton is sold out at the moment. Except the Blue Black Denim. Which I actually DID buy last week. Because I know I’ll want another one. And black is a staple color for me.) Anyway, the pattern calls for two skeins, and I did nearly use up both skeins. I can’t say enough good stuff about this yarn. It’s the nicest cotton yarn I’ve knit with. It creates a sturdy fabric with a nice drape. I think it’ll soften with wear and washing, although it won’t fade or bleed. (I’ve already tried — but that’s okay because the color is divine as is).

Needles: I used a US 4.

Started/finished: I cast on in early July and knit this through the knock-out stages of the World Cup. (It was finished before the semi-final matches in mid-July, despite a stupid finger slice.) This was a very quick knit for me.

Notes and modifications: No modifications; I knit the pattern exactly as written. My notes are simple: clear instructions, lovely yarn, quick and easy pattern, highly memorizable and good for travel and TV-knitting. I love the shape of this bandana. I want to knit another!

What will I do with it? I’ll wear this quite often, I’m sure, and especially when the weather cools down a little bit. The color is perfect for my wardrobe, and the small size of this bandana is easy to wear and fun and, well . . . right up my alley, style-wise.
