We’re reached that point in the summer when things . . . shift . . . and everything starts moving quickly toward fall.
I can see the changes happening most in my garden. While my plants are generally still lush and green, they’re also getting . . . kinda tired; things are looking a bit ragged and worn around the edges. It’s the light, though – or the diminishing of it – that’s the big give-away these days. Sigh. Enjoy these last days of summer!

Those rascally deer! I had a huge buck checking out the hummingbird feeders that hang on the patio. They are certainly bold! August… sigh. Frankie and I are now walking in the dark for our first amble out!

Old dogs sleep so well, but still look tired. They are so wonderful and I love seeing Jojo. Tomatoes! We have little to none, but the weather changed this week and it’s cooler so maybe they will be saved to the point we get a small crop. Does you Ring say “person”. A little misidentification? LOL The light. Ah, I miss it already.
I opened the blinds this morning and said to Rusty, “There are leaves on the ground.” Just a few… small yellow leaves from the black walnut tree… but they weren’t there yesterday. Could have made that an exclamation, but it’s just facts… and maybe if I don’t say it too loudly, they’ll fall slower.
The sun set before 9pm where it used to be sorta light out still at 10pm. Bring on falL!
Love the pictures. I took a ride to my favorite ice cream shop (with a visit to a beach town and used book store and Lavender farm). The ice cream shop is about an hour away and I try to visit twice a season, spring and fall before they close but I finally made it for the first time this season today. And I took my car picture of my ice cream.
That’s a very unusual “person” at your door on your camera! I have noticed that it’s darker in the morning when I take Ruthie out the first time (I’ve even needed my little flashlight a couple of times in the past week) and that it’s getting darker earlier. Thanks to all the rain we’ve been getting (4+ inches so far this month!), all the plants still look great, but I can feel fall coming. And as much as I love the long days of summer, I don’t mind so much. I am tired of sweating!
August is definitely spider season. I hate walking out the door and getting a web across my face!

Wonderful photos! Your garden is still looking beautiful and I know just what you mean about the light. Sunset is well before 8pm now and there’s no denying that fact. Right now I’m enjoying lots of dahlias and zinnias, bats flying about at twilight, and prepping for our annual family camping trip. I’m hoping for good beach weather!
Jo Jo looks “plumb tuckered out” like many of us too in this heat I’m guessing. Love the yummy tomatoes and summery flowers. No spider webs so far.
Those tomatoes!!! Our large ones are so slow to ripen…which is ok…longer to enjoy. I’ve noticed the change in light. Now I often put the patio light on when I come down to make coffee in the morning. And, the apple tree has plenty of apples, but is losing its leaves quickly – our yard is littered with apple leaves!
Your garden looks as beautiful as ever but you are right change is a coming. Jo Jo looks like she might be a little tired of summer as well. Enjoy your tomatoes.
