My goodness . . . January has been a long month hasn’t it? And with this whole week to go yet, too. . .
These photos were all taken before this past weekend. Here in my corner of Michigan, we only caught the very edge of the snow from this latest storm. But, as you can see from my photos . . . we’ve had our share already.
There’s a certain “sameness” to all the days in January.
Here. See for yourself . . .

The sameness of all that white and frigid temps! (JoJo is the best white of all.) But your soup and the green of plants provide some respite and hope. February is short and then I’m calling it spring.
Is there anything better than a cozy pup? I think not! I am doing better thanks to a slow savoring read of Wintering… what perfect wisdom in that little (but impactful) book!
Your view is almost identical to mine. Snow, a Christmas cactus in bloom, plants that are trying to remember spring, a dog snuggling under the exact same blanket, a stew, and that poignant and reflective look when I see myself in the mirror. I just had a BD yesterday, and I am now 3/4 of a century old. Seems impossible, and I am overwhelmed with things to reflect on. Thanks for the camera roll, Kym.
It’s same same same, but it’s pretty? Yeah… January goes on for far too long. haha.
Yes to the sameness — the cold, the dark, the lack of color. It really gets me down, so it’s no wonder January is my least favorite month. But it also makes me appreciate the sun when it does come out, and when it gets just warm enough for the snow to melt, it feels a bit like a holiday. See? There are still moments of joy out there!
Whatever is in that pot looks delicious!
I see flowers emerging and that’s wonderful! And JoJo looks so cozy. Cute mitts and yummy looking soup and bread. The days left in January are in the single digits (like the temperature!) and that’s something to celebrate.
JoJo looks like the best kind of pal for January. The soup/stew looks just right too although I had to think hard this evening because we have had a lot of soup. It’s also nice to see the blooms on the Christmas cactus.
Yes, the same, but I find pictures of snow to be very soothing and calming (as long as power stays on and I don’t have to go out!). Your food looks delicious and warming.
Your landscape makes me long for real winter. We had mostly gray this month, but yesterday’s blue sky was amazing (the gray is back today). We had the warmest December EVER and January could be near the same. It WILL be the least snow ever, that’s a given.
As my son said yesterday: “January has been a long year.”
