The knitting update is quick and straightforward.
I’ve got one finished man-sweater back. And one finished man-sweater front. And one nearly finished (just a couple of rows and a cast off to go) baby sweater back.
(And finishing the baby sweater back has me doing a little re-think on the color blocking plan.) (I knew this would happen. Stay tuned.)
The pupdate . . . is also quick and straightforward.
JoJo is pleased to show you that she no longer needs to wear a cone. She is now sporting a . . . surgical sleeve. (She is a Houdini Dog with cones. They don’t work for her. Plus she doesn’t like them. Just sayin.) The sleeve is much more comfortable for her while her large and rather nasty incision continues to heal. She likes looking like a back-up dancer in costume. Or like a basketball star player on the court. I’m just happy she’s not fussing with it all the time.
JoJo had surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove a rapidly growing lump on her front “arm.” We don’t know anything about the lump itself yet, but we’re glad it’s gone. JoJo is 12-and-a-half now, so . . . every day we get to spend with her is a gift. (And she is milking that . . . ) No swimming or exercising for JoJo until her stitches come out (7 more days . . . ), so we’re just hanging out quietly in the back yard these days. And dreading the coming onslaught of fireworks. (She is losing her hearing, but, unfortunately . . . she can still hear – and fear – fireworks.)

How about you?
What are you making this week?
I am so pleased that vets have figured out that the cones are horrible for dogs and for their owners. I send my best wishes to JoJo to heal quickly. You are knitting up a storm in this warm weather. I am impressed! The tile is being installed in my bathroom renovation, and I have repairs going on at another house, so I have been quite busy of late. Not much time for making (other than messes), and too little time for reading. I know these things that are going on are necessary, but I am sure you understand I will be glad when it is over. Still got those kitchen pics?
I think JoJo is a cool dog no matter what she is wearing! I personally wouldn’t want to see a large donut around the house every day, but maybe she needs one of those tattoo sleeves. They probably don’t make them for dogs, but black will do. I’m wishing you all good luck with fireworks. Ours start tomorrow night and will probably continue all weekend. Give JoJo some extra pets and treats for me.
JoJo just needs a sweatband around her head and she’s ready to start in a dog version of Flashdance! Best wishes for her continued healing (and a easy time getting through the fireworks).
How did she get to be 12-1/2?!! Good luck with the fireworks. I dreaded 4th of July with Holly … thankfully Lucy doesn’t mind the noise, but the whole thing is pretty much spoiled for me now.
Aw, speedy healing to JoJo! We’ve already heard fireworks going off every night this week. Luckily, Kai seems just “distracted” by them and not fearful… we’ll see when all hell breaks loose on the 4th & over the weekend.
Abby & I send JoJo good wishes for healing and Abby wants to remind you that “more treats” are good for healing!
“Houdini” Dog. I love it. They now make “Thunder Vests” or some such name for fiteworks-fearing dogs like JoJo. Maybe you’ve already tried them? Hurray for progress on the man-sweater!
P.S. i like to knit in AC so sometimes i make more progress in summer. Also more light and less pressure to get a project done.
Poor Jo-Jo, but she does look quite chic! My friend tried the thunder vest for her dog and it did NOT work. I hope Mabel says inside. I’m worn out – my back is acting up (again). I will miss Iris tomorrow (Bonnie will take over) but I will see her Friday for a cookout.
I hope Jo-Jo continues to heal and survives the fireworks. A front and a back on the man sweater is very good progress. Hopefully you have notes or measurements from the sleeves of the brown sweater to help. Honestly, we will have two long late nights of a barrage of fireworks – as much noise as an active war zone. In my opinion, it’s a disgraceful waste of money and does so much damage to the environment, not to mention the stress on animals and humans with PTSD. Sorry I can go into quite a rant about personal fireworks.
