There is magic in the garden . . . if you keep your eyes open and look for it.
“The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

That plant just behind the spider web? I’ve been playing “Plant Roulette” with it all season. (Is it something I planted and just don’t remember? Or is it a weed? The jury is finally in: Weed.
I love the photo and the fact that a master gardener like yourself also plays plant roulette! I have weeded around some taller unidentified plants for much of the summer because they had buds and I was quite curious about the flowers. I thought they might be asters but they bloomed last week and I’ve watered and protected burnweed.
One woman’s trash, one spider’s treasure! So glad you left it–and captured this.
But home to a lovely spider at its web.
We planted our new little boxwoods and I couldn’t be happier. They are the perfect little bushes for under our windows.
Happy September!!! Let the best season begin!
What a beautiful picture. Plant roulette – I play it ALL the time. Welcome to September!!!
I love how you captured that spider web! My little garden is looking wild and there are weeds mixed in everywhere, but at this time of year I let things go. I planted lots of pollinator friendly plants this year and they have been loaded with bees and butterflies. Most of the flowers have grown taller than me this year (I’m barely 5’2″) and if I get in there to weed, I’m likely to step on something I planted.
Oh man, I can relate to that plant roulette thing! I had this thing coming up in my dahlia patch and I just wasn’t sure . . . dahlia or weed. Of course it was a weed! LOL
I too play plant/weed roulette. I planted poppy seed late last fall and then left Everything grow in those areas this spring so I didn’t accidently pull them. All I got were weeds. No poppies at all. I’m trying again this fall. I’ve already got the seed.
Your weed looks a little like a false sunflower? Love the spider web. We don’t have a lot of spiders this year but do we ever have frogs!
Love me some late summer spiders and their webs. And heck – one lucky weed! Nice shot Kym.
But is is framed so beautifully by that incredible spider web!!
And of course…the weed looks healthy as anything!
Spiders are amazing — though I’d prefer them to spin beautiful webs like this outside only! Hope you can dispose of the weed without disturbing Arachne!
holy smokes that web is AMAZING! and honestly, the non-gardener in me could not care what’s behind it 😉
What a beautiful photo. A gardener friend of mine always says, a weed is just a plant that grows where you don’t want it to grow.
