Dear friends,
Just like that, our trip to Sleeve Island is over! By the time you receive this postcard, the nearly-finished cardigan — with TWO sleeves! — will be off the blocking board and ready for the final steps: bottom ribbing, sleeve ribbing, and weaving in the ends.
Ahhhhh. It feels so good to be back home again!
And you’ll never believe who we found waiting for us at home . . .
A finished toadstool (you can see more photos and read all about it here) and a Sashiko monstrosity (now in progress) (more details soon).
Travel is always an adventure, but there’s no place like home!
============
How about you? What are you working on this week?
Welcome home! I have been finding some older projects that are so close to being finished and making plans to clear out that pile before we head into a new year.
That was a productive trip and your cardigan is looking good! The toadstools are quite nice and I’m really interested in your Sashiko monstrosity. Inquiring minds (mine) are looking forward to details!
Welcome home! Almost finished!!! I cannot wait to hear more about your Sashiko project. The other day I rediscovered the bag I bought to embroider (just like the one you did the other year). When you showed yours on your blog I promptly ordered one for me and then never worked on it. Perhaps in the new year?
Home just in time for the holiday! That is some brilliant traveling! Your mushrooms are just so adorable (as is your wee gnome!!) But sashiko!! That looks fascinating! I had never heard of sashiko until Cara did her stitching craze a few years ago. I have remained fascinated by it but have yet to dip my toe into the sashiko pond! I will be watching your stitching progress with interest!
Have the happiest of Thanksgivings!!
Yay! Welcome home! Your other projects are happy to see you, I’m sure.
I’m thiiiisss close to getting the last of the languishing projects of the needles (at least the ones I’ve been slowly working on, not the ones that I have to decide whether to finish or rip out) and I’ve started on a few little gifts for the holidays.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving!
Woohoo! Looks like it was an OK trip!
I have been thinking about lots, learning about lots… but not doing much. I need a spark.
Happy Thanksgiving!
This is a good looking sweater, Kym. I await a modeling shot. Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for all the support lately.
Well, you got back from that trip just in time! I hear that ribbing goes very well with pie, you know. 😉 Looking forward to seeing the sweater all finished and wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving!
Your sweater looks absolutely gorgeous, Kym, even on the blocking board. Congratulations on escaping from sleeve island! I bet you can’t wait to start wearing it. I have always loved the look of Sashiko, like calmly sophisticated folk design, but not likely to take it up. Looking forward, therefore, to yours for my Sashiko fix. On my needles now: nothing. But planning like Vera to make December my WIPs into FOs month (“We shall see”, she notes grimly). Im shooting for at least one.
Ha! So nice to know you’re back from Sleeve Island!
Your mushrooms are about as cute as they can be! AND, I love sashiko so much! I like your project and have looked for something that goes with the pillow I made a couple of years ago. I’d like to do more, but I’m still stuck on mending my jeans so they are wearable. Can’t wait to learn more!
Love your sweater! Sleeves are definitely a big hill for me to complete, like that second sock.
Those mushrooms are adorable.
