Sophie Scar(ves) . . . as in multiple
Pattern: Sophie Scarf
Designer: PetiteKnit
Yarn:
- Sophie Scarf #1 – Trellis by Yarn Hollow, a DK weight yarn with 60% merino/40% bamboo in the colorway Mushroom. (I have had 2 generous skeins – 620 yards each – in my stash since the early 2010s. That’s sweater quantity . . . but I’ve never used it because it has a “sheen” from the bamboo that I didn’t think I liked. I decided to use it for a Sophie Scarf, and lo and behold. . . the yarn is just lovely, sheen and all. It WILL become some sort of sweater now. Just sayin.) Note: Trellis yarn has been discontinued and Yarn Hollow is no longer in business.
- Sophie Scarf #2 – Whisper from Briar Rose, a DK weight yarn with a blend of 40% alpaca, 40% wool, and 20% silk in a shades-of-green one-of-a-kind colorway. (I do have a sweater quantity of this beautiful yarn, and will knit something with the skeins remaining . . . someday.)
- Sophie Scarf #3 – Pashm from Ewetopia, a DK weight yarn with a blend of 80% merino wool, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon in the colorway Tapestry. This is a skein I picked up at my one-and-only visit to Rhinebeck back in 2014. This lovely variegated yarn was a Sophie Scarf experiment for me, and it turned out beautifully . . . because of the short color runs.
- Sophie Scarf #4 – Sporty from The Woolen Rabbit, a 3-ply sport weight in the colorway Zelda. (I once belonged to Kim’s monthly yarn subscription, and this was one of the lovely monthly offerings. I’ve been holding on to this yarn for a long time.)
Needles: US 4
Started/finished: January 1 – 9, 2026 (#1), late January 2026 (#2), early February 2026 (#3), early March 2026 (#4)
Notes and modifications: I knit the larger size Sophie Scarf with no modifications. After blocking, my scarf measured 45 inches in length (a bit longer than pattern specs) and 5 inches wide at the point. (In the photos, you may notice a reddish thread woven through the stitching. That’s just my method of counting rows, and I pulled the thread out before blocking.)
This was a quick and easy knit, and I’m really happy with the end result. The yarn was lovely to work with, and blocked beautifully; I love the drape.
Can’t stop knitting these . . .
What will I do with it? It’s all mine! I have worn it every day since finishing it. I love it — and will likely make another soon. (Edited to add: #1, #2, and #3 are for me. #4 will be a gift for my sister.)
