Where things are looking decidedly more Spring-like these days! (Although I know better than to “believe.” There are snowflakes in my forecast for later in the week, after all.)
And just because some of you have asked . . . we were not in the path of those devastating Michigan tornadoes you may have heard about this weekend. But . . . Brian and Lauren were uncomfortably close. They live in Edwardsburg, one of the towns that took a direct hit. (Fortunately, they are safe, and there was no damage to their house.) As for the other towns you may be hearing about in tornado news . . . Three Rivers is about 20 miles due south of my house, and Union City is 43 miles to the southeast. (Close enough that it’s very real for me.)
Here’s what life looks like . . . from my camera roll!

I am so glad to hear that you and yours were not affected by the tornados. Spring in my world makes them fairly common around me, but I have never had a direct hit. I have my bike helmet close at hand in my hidey hole. We are at risk for tornados this week. It’s just too warm for this time of year. I love your camera role, Kym. Snowdrops, JoJo smiling, lots of green shoots, a finished sophie scarf, and that closet! Come do mine, please? LOL
Glad to hear yo are safe and Brian and Lauren as well. Thank you for the reminder…I’ve got tassels to attach!
I’m glad that you guys and B&L are okay. I don’t think about tornadoes in March, but I guess I should. I’m glad you included a big mud puddle! Bulbs and new shades of green are lovely, but mud is the one constant during spring (for us anyway).
First, I am profoundly grateful that Brian and Lauren are safe (as are you and Tom!) but my heart mourns for those who were in the path. Your camera roll is a delight to the eyes (I had one brave daff open yesterday… it is a little beam of sunshine in the garden!) But the best is sweet JoJo! XO
Happy to hear that you are all safe! Love your camera roll — the JoJo nose shots always make me smile. I’m wearing sandals today & doing everything possible to enjoy this lovely day from my office (the door is open!). I’m not excited at all about the 7+ inches of snow in the forecast, nor for the predicted temps for as far out as I can see. Ugh.
Your spring is further along than ours and I hope the snow doesn’t materialize for you! We’re on a warming trend now so I’m hoping to see crocus and snow drops maybe next week? Fingers crossed! Great photos as always and thanks for letting everyone know that you all are safe and sound.
Glad you’re all safe and unharmed — I did wonder when I heard about those tornadoes! I see JoJo is recharging for the season. We also have snow in our forecast for later this week, but there are now daffodils blooming in the neighborhood in addition to hellebores and snowdrops and new leaves coming out on the trees, so I think anything we get isn’t going to stick around long.
I am straight across the big lake from you and all I’ve got in my yard is brown, brown, brown. Well, accept for my star magnolia – that has buds. So maybe it’s not as bleak as I think!
So glad to read that you and yours are all safe. Sweet pics of JoJo and I see that Tom’s hates finished (along with another Sophie Scarf). That is a beautiful sky you photographed. I spotted one white crocus in our front yard this afternoon when I got home and it is 71 or so. We don’t have snow in the forecast like Pittsburgh (thank God).
Hat is finished…not hates finished.
Thanks for letting us know you all are safe , Kym. I did prick up my ears when I heard Kalamazoo mentioned but then lost track since I didn’t hear further news. Glad Brian and Laura escaped! I remember a tornado scare in my childhood. Luckily, we too, escaped. Luv tuckered-out JoJo and that dramatic sunrise/sunset (red sky in morning??). Our town’s beautifully landscaped trees are blooming! (Hope there won’t be a frost to follow.)
The frog!! Do you hear spring peepers too?
Glad you all are safe from the tornadoes.
I am holding my breath after the March ice storm last year.
What is in your garden that looks like fairy lights?
My snowdrops are on fading and the poor hellebores have been hit by frost so often they are half their usual size and look the worse for wear. Yours are just starting to show thier colors. How wonderful! Happy Spring! Hope you have sun soon.
What is in your garden that looks like fairy lights?
My snowdrops are on fading and the hellebores look tattered and pale. Yours look like their ready to show off! Come on spring!
