Well. This has been quite a beginning to a new year, hasn’t it? I’m trying hard to keep my feet on the ground and my head above water.
And here’s what that looks like from my camera roll . . .

Yes, quite a start to the New Year. I am currently still waving, but sometimes I feel like I am drowning. Whatcha knitting?
I keep asking myself how can it only be X day? It is insane… just insane. I wake up each morning wondering what new disaster happened overnight… it is just unreal. Those files must be much worse than anyone imagined…
I think last week was kind of a crossroads for me. Between Venezuela, ICE, Iran, Greenland, and everything else all at once, it became really too much. I will still read some news, contribute to causes that mean something to me, but try to adjust my expectations. It’s horrendous, will probably remain horrendous, and far worse than I expected, but we can only do so much. I’m with Becky: “I was much too far out all my life, And not waving but drowning.” But there is also beer, wine, JoJo in snow, and amaryllis. Do whatever you can to keep your head above water.
Thank you for protesting. And thank you for sharing pictures of JoJo and pretty snow and yummy looking soup and a visit to One Well. It helps.
It’s getting tougher to keep my chin up… but that’s just what the bastards want, so look straight ahead and EFF THEM!
Each day seems to bring a new horror and it is just so hard to keep going, but over the weekend a group I work with helped a refugee family move into an apartment (with the help of a kind landlord) and got them a mattress and a couch. In the grand scheme of things, what we did was small, but it’s what we can do and we hope it makes a difference.
I keep thinking of that 30 Rock meme — except with a minor edit: “Some year, huh?” “It’s January, Lemon.” It’s been A Lot. I hope you are finding enough to center you and that the protesting helped you get out your rage (just not all of it — we need to hold on to some of that rage).
Looks like a good start to me. Thank you for protesting. The soup looks pretty darn delicious!
Snow! Soup! Protests! Libations! JoJo in the snow! Amaryllis! Thanks for your pictures and yes, it’s been quite a year already (not even halfway thru January).
I. Think I like the Peace pillow and JoJo in the snow best.
