I’m up north this week . . . where it’s cool and rainy and the intenet is slow. Very, very slow. And yet, I can still bring you my latest project update! (Be grateful for the photos, my friends. It has taken over an hour to load them into this post.) (A long and frustrating hour.)
So. Where am I this week, project-progress-wise? Well. Nothing that involves a sewing machine, that’s for sure! But here’s what I’ve got . . .
First, I’ve got another finished Saltwater Bandana. (This was #6 on my original project inventory.) I actually finished this up before we left. It looks much like my previous Saltwater Bandana, only darker. (The colorway is “black,” but it’s really a dark navy.) (I wish it WAS black.)
Then, I’ve got my komebukuro bag project that I started during the MDK Summer Camp session a few weeks ago. (This was #9 on my original project inventory.) I was . . . let’s just say uninspired by the fabric scraps I received in my bag kit (it was the colors. . . ), so I scrabbled around in my own scrap box before I finally settled on my plan. I’ll tell you more about it once it’s finished, but I think handstitching is the perfect up north kind of project.
Then, you can see that I’m nearly finished with my Wakebrite bandana . . . the one with the pooling yarn and the linen stitch. (This was #8 on my original project inventory.) I’m at the cast off part, and I’m gonna guess that it’ll be ready for a nice soak/blocking session by the time I get back home. (Spoiler alert: I really love it.)
Last, well. You can see I dug out my Waffle Pullover for a quick assessment before we left. (And, yes. That is a Very Real photo there . . . complete with morning-hair, a belly-shot, and a toilet-in-the-background.) I thought I had knit more of the body before putting it aside for the summer, but . . . alas. I did not. So I have a ways to go yet. But now that it’s OUT again – and now that I’ve finished (or at least nearly finished) both bandana projects, I’m ready to get it wrapped up and ready for “sweater weather.” (I am very pleased with the state I left the project in, too. Good notes, nicely put away, all needles ready for action.) (Also, the fit is good!) The sweater is up here with me, but I haven’t touched it . . . yet.
So. Good progress all around!

I commend you on your dedication to finishing all these UFOs, Kym. They all look lovely, and it looks like you are going to make your deadline! I really like that Wakebright bandana as well. Now, an off subject question. What kind of shorts are you wearing? LOL I think I love them. I am working on feeding my stepson who has not had a homecooked meal in over a year (he’s ravenous for home cooking) while he is staying with me awaiting his pod to arrive. Yep, I am almost at the end of that project. Hooray!

Good progress on good projects. I started my komebukuro bag this week, but it’s taking more time than I expected. And I’ve got a working on it mess that I didn’t expect on my dining room table this week. I also am enjoying it, which is maybe the main thing. Yours looks like it’s well on the way.
Excellent progress! Even the sweater isn’t that far from being done. And with the frustrating internet situation, I’m guessing you’ll be spending less time in front of a screen and more time enjoying the scenery and your knitting. I’m plugging along on some charity projects and am hoping to swatch soon for a new sweater.
Wonderful progress! I’m not sure my wrist would take knitting that much linen stitch, but I LOVE the Wakebrite Bandana! I was not enamored with some of the fabric scraps in my komebukuro kit, either; need to get to my “patch” stash, and will hopefully make that a travel project for this weekend. Isn’t it funny how we remember (or misremember) the state of projects that we’ve set aside? I have pulled out projects that were all but finished, though I remembered them in a much earlier state — and probably didn’t pull them out sooner because of the amount of work they needed.
You are making great progress! I have been collecting bits of paper and patterns with notes so I can get them corralled in my knitting notebook. I hope to be caught up by the first of September 🤞🏼

I am in love with the Wakebrite Bandana!! Oh My Goodness… SO IN LOVE! I also have my Waffle pullover out… it is not as far along as yours… sigh. But I am divided for the sleeves and I also left myself perfect notes. I sat down this afternoon, queued up a bit of Vera and began knitting! I am hopeful that it will be finished before mid-September is upon us! I fear that my Komebukuro bag is headed to Vivi… she is wildly in love with it… the kitties are Her. Thing! Perhaps that was my inner voice directing me that way… but I believe I will be sending it off her way soon!
Is it possible that several of us questioning your ability to finish these projects before fall may have provided some impetus to actually get them done? 🙂 Whatever the reason, congratulations on your lovely finishes! Your Saltwater Bandana is beautiful (such even knitting!), and Wakebrite and the MDK bag are also looking good. If I remember correctly, finishing these projects was part of a bigger plan that may be happening this fall. I’m looking forward to all of it! (And thanks for the pictures.)
Oh my! PROGRESS!!! It all looks good Kym. I think hand sewing can be so meditative (and perfect for an up North time). Thanks for posting through all the difficulties of loading pictures. I love seeing them.
Nice work! I’m knitting a one skein shawl (Colorado trip knitting) but will finish that last sleeve on my sweater sooooon! (I do love that bag!)
Wonderful progress! The stitching is really lovely on that first bandana, so even and the color is fantastic. I’ll be pulling out Hannah’s waffle pullover this weekend and assessing where I am. I hope I took good notes but I doubt it. hahahahaha
You are more productive than me! Still working on my on-the-go KSH scarf, my simplest blanket ever (replace the yo’s with kfb’s – not easily visible if you forget now and then) and keeping up hope that the the last ball of a beautiful cotton yarn will cough itself up so I can finish a simple little cardi that I love. Love your Wakebrites!

What great progress on all of these projects. The Blue and white shawl is a wonderful project as I love anything blue or blue and white. The Bandana pattern is quite tempting. As for me, I love a dark navy but if you were expecting black I can understand why you would be disappointed. Enjoy the time “up north.” We didn’t get to Minnesota this summer so I’ll live vicariously knowing you were and are there.
