One of These Things

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Pattern: Mountain Town Mitts

Designer: Elizabeth Doherty

Yarn: Direful Yarns Xanthippe (70/20/10 SW Merino/Cashmere/Nylon) in ‘Monster Marshmallow’ AND Rowan Kidsilk Haze in ‘Blackcurrant’

Needles: Size 4 and Size 6 (Note: The pattern calls for 5s and 6s, but I couldn’t find my double-point needles in size 5, so I just used 4s. All was well.)

Finished: April 11, 2024

Made for: Me

Size: Medium (The pattern includes 3 sizes.)

Details and Notes: Elizabeth Doherty designs beautiful knitwear – and her patterns are a dream to knit. These mitts are lovely — and fit particularly well. I’m thinking that this will become my “go-to” pattern for fingerless mitts in the future. I like the fingering-with-mohair mix (very luxurious!), but I also think these would be great in a single-strand DK yarn — with or without the lace pattern. Regarding yarn use: I was using a leftover skein of KSH for these mitts. I really have no idea how much yarn I started with — but it felt like “enough.” It was not. I needed to procure another skein to finish the 2nd pair. (So I THINK 1 skein of KSH would be enough, but . . . I’m not for-sure-for-sure.)
