So. . . two weeks ago, I was whining about my never-ending black hole of a waffle pullover. And how it was no longer providing enough of the dopamine I so desperately crave. And how I was going to just take a break from it . . . just for a little while.
Well.
When a door closes, a window opens.
(Or something like that.)
And dopamine rushes in!
Just like that [insert finger snap here]. . . my knitting is FUN again!
This, my friends, is a test knit of a new sweater design from one of my favorite knitwear designers, Elizabeth Smith. I can’t share much about it yet, but I can tell you …
It’s fun to knit. (The construction is interesting and Not Tedious.)
It’s light. (Suitable for all seasons, depending on the yarn you choose.) (I chose something super light and airy.)
It has stripes. (And stripes always knit up faster, don’t you think?) (Especially in Spring-y, Earth Day colors, I’m finding.)
It’s fast. As in Super Fast. (Worsted-weight-yarn-on-size-10-needles kind of fast!)
It’s giving Big Dopamine! (And I’m All In for that.)

How about you? What are you making this week?

I always love the combination of grey and yellow together. I’m betting this will be a sweater you wear again and again. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
I love grey and yellow together, too, Vera. But – just for the record – these colors are called Blues Cruise and Lime, or what I think of as a kind of light-navy and tennis-ball-green.
I am thrilled you have found your Big Dopamine again, Kym! While I often salivated over a complicated and tedious sweater design, I rarely enjoyed the process much. Hopefully, you will get back to your Waffle when the time is right, but for now, enjoy that dopamine. It seems in short supply these days.
Ooh, I like this sweater! I hardly ever consider knitting sweaters, but this is one I think I just might. I love the colors you chose and look forward to hearing more details when the pattern is released. Glad you found the dopamine!
Those stripes are SO you! I’m glad your knitting is fun again!
I’m looking for a sweater and that looks fun!
Can’t wait to see it in all it’s finished glory — glad the knitting’s fun again!
I’m a big Elizabeth fan, too, as I’ve probably already declared. Looking forward to this pattern. I’ve been looking for a design to use for a beautiful small batch wool in lustrous, cool-toned brown bought at a farmer’s market which needs some light stripes to brighten it up. Will probably have to adjust for gauge, though. We’ll see. Can’t wait.
