Checking in . . . from the middle of the month.
Life, generally, looks a little more interesting in June, y’know?
I mean, I’m doing all the same-old, same-old . . .
There’s always something to do in the garden. I’m moving on from the early-season frenzy to more . . . maintenance work. Deadheading. Maintenance-weeding. Cutting back. Filling in.
I’m knitting. Still with the skirt. But almost finished. I blocked it on Monday, mid-project. I wanted to check the fit before committing to the waistband, and I definitely wanted to avoid any little surprises I might discover after the whole thing is finished. I have a few inches to go until I can wrap it up — but I’m close. (And . . . I can tell it’s going to be a winner! Can’t wait til I can wear this one.)
I’m enjoying summer evenings out on the patio. (Really . . . best part of the day.)
But I’m also . . . NOT doing the same-old, same-old.
We have an extra “passenger” this month . . . and that changes everything! There are more conversations. And a whole lot more distractions. More baking. Lots of laughter. Life is a little more complicated, a little less efficient. But a whole lot more colorful!
We’ve been able to head up north for some rest and relaxation . . . and some fishing and s’mores. We put in a new dock this year at the lake. (After 25 years with our old dock, we were more than ready for an upgrade.)
At mid-month, I’m enjoying the summer . . . enjoying this special time with Erin.
Life is good!
(And so was that lemon curd, by the way . . . )
Oh my – daughter time, lake time, and lemon curd. Sounds lovely!
This looks like a lovely slice of June life (and I’d like a slice of that lemon curd pie)!
Idyllic! (That is some lake. No wonder you like to go there.)
June is the best month. We’ve had cloudy afternoon that keep the heat away (almost chilly some days) and enough sun to keep us smiling. Your trips to the lake are so inviting!
That lake looks like a perfect place to lower stress levels by 1000 degrees. Your new dock looks lovely.
We got a new fence this past year and I just marvel at how much a small improvement changes the look of everything around it.
First, I love the skirt. It almost (almost!) makes me want to knit one!
Second, I bought two pairs of the gardening shoes after you recommended them and I love them! I have the same colorway that yours are as well as one with tulips (those are truly for the backdoor). It looks like the tulip ones are sold out at amazon (here’s the link): https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Premium-Garden-Support-Meadow-Backdoorshoes/dp/B0196OGEC8?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 so if any of Kym’s readers want a great pair of fairly well priced garden shoes those are the ones to get!
Third, I also bought the bucket you recommended and love it as well.
Fourth, WHO KNEW CUCUMBERS NEED THE SOIL TO BE 70 DEGREES? I’ve been stressing over my cucumbers but now I just need to wait for the soil to get warmer and will try again.
Your slice of June has all the best that summer has to offer! Your place on the lake looks like the perfect place to relax and enjoy the summer with family!
The only thing I can think of that would be better than summer evenings outside or time up north is having your daughter with you (and enjoying her baked goods)! So glad you’re getting all this extra time together.
It looks to me like you’re enjoying all of the glorious things about June!
What a wonderful month you are having! When an adult child comes for more than a weekend, it is cause for celebration!
Lovely, simply lovely! Your new dock looks great; the lake looks wonderful – and the campfire!! Lemon curd pie???? Oh my! I do agree that time on the patio in the late afternoon with a beverage is the best. Looks like your June is just about perfect Kym! In fact, perfect – not sure what could be added!
happy sigh … June appears to be treating you (and Erin) well … I smiled at that photo of her in the sweatshirt. It hasn’t been summer hot here by any means, but I have to enjoy the sweatshirts vicariously for now.
June looks wonderful. How wonderful to have that extra passenger. Enjoy every minute.
Life looks GREAT!! Such a happy, colorful post CHOCK FULL OF LOVE!!
Your June is just overflowing with all the good things! (and lemon curd!)
I think s’mores with your children just taste better… may your s’mores be abundant!
