Well. When I first made my list of unfinished projects to complete – OR make a sincere effort to at least start – by mid-September, there were a couple of projects that fell into that sincere-effort-to-start category. While I really wanted to spur myself into action to wrap up and completely finish most of those projects, there were also a few that I just . . . didn’t want to fall off my radar. For me, a start on those projects would be as good as a finish for my inventory “purposes.”
One of those start-was-as-good-as-a-finish projects (Project #9 on my original list) was the komebukuro bag from the upcoming (at the time I wrote my post) MDK Summer Camp session. It was only in “kit” form at the time I assembled my project list.
But . . . lookee-here! Sometimes once you start a project, you can’t stop!

And the result? A surprise bonus finish!

I love what you did and applaud your courage to cut into the sashiko! I recently cut apart a bag that wasn’t working for me and made it into something I love.
Seeing your finished sampler at the end gave me a little two. But I love how your komebukuro bag turned out. It’s truly your bag. I THINK I’m nearly finished with mine but not yet.
What a wonderful project bag Kym. So pretty and fun AND, so much meaning for you with the pieces you used. Bravo to you for cutting into your sampler (but, then, why have it lingering in a drawer…she asked…who has a million “pieces” lingering in a drawer). Well Done!!

This really is just so fun, Kym! If ever there was a reason to have an abundant stash… this is it! It is brilliant and so creative! What a fantastic finish from such a fun class!
The bag is a fantistic project and it’s so fun and creative in the finishing, too! You have an incredible stash to be able draw from for all the little tags and fabrics that make it truly one of a kind. The inside is perfectly calm so you can see exactly what you have inside for your next be project. Nice work, Kym! I love it so much because it is JUST YOU.
What a sweet little bag. Isn’t it fun to rummage through stash and find what you didn’t know you needed to complete a project. The hand stitching looks like just the thing for an “up north” project.
