No worries. Just kidding. That was just an attention-grabbing headline. Because this may be the most boring blog post about the most boring knitting project since, well . . . since The Big Brown Blob!
I have been thinking about knitting this sweater for two years now. Last year I even started winding the yarn (it’s this yarn in the “Truffle” colorway). But making this sweater requires . . . A Commitment (it’s long, it’s oversized, it’s miles of stockinette), and I kept putting off the casting-on. But a couple of weeks ago, I found myself longing to wear this very sweater (it’s very . . . Me, style-wise) (if only I’d made it already. . .), so I decided now is the time!
And. . . surprise! It’s kind of magical. The knitting is easy. The yarn is fabulous. And it’s just flying off the needles. (Maybe I’ll be able to even wear it this year after all???)
This sweater is knit flat and in pieces, which is actually my favorite type of sweater construction. I don’t mind purling. I don’t mind seaming. And I have always found that . . . seams . . . give the sweater a nicer shape and better structural integrity. I even like knitting sleeves better when they’re knitted flat!
So here’s where I am: I’ve got the back finished. I’ve started on the front (which is exactly the same as the back . . . ) (exactly). I’ve got plenty of movies to watch and audiobooks to listen to. And Tom is deep into curling season . . . Although January is almost over, February is also a long month. (For a short month, y’know?)
So what do you think? Will I be able to wear it this year? Or not?

I have thought about this exact same sweater so many times!!! Now is definitely the time to be knitting it (since you are not out digging in the dirt). I bet you have it done in no time! Are you enjoying the Atlas yarn?
My guess is yes, especially because you already want to be wearing it!
I have no doubt that you’ll get it done much sooner than you think and get a good amount of wear before you have to pack it away for the summer! Looks like it’ll be a great layering piece.
I’m rooting for you! There’s so much to be said for a truly wearable sweater. I’m almost half-way through the reverse applique on my A-line dress. I think I will be embroidering around leaves forever. But I *do* want to WEAR this thing, and I am getting a little bit faster. But just lately, I’ve been fantasizing about casting on one of the projects with yarn and pattern just waiting on my laundry room counter. Which will be fun, but won’t get the sewing done.

I’m sure you’ll finish it. I LOVE atlas yarn–I would knit everything out of it if it wasn’t so pricey and if it came in more colors! Have fun!
That is definitely a very Kym kind of sweater! I think you’ll be done by the end of February so long as you don’t get distracted by something cute and whimsical!
I’ve looked at this pattern too, I love the pocket especially! Seems like you’re very motivated to get it done, I agree with everyone else that it’ll be finished in no time.
Oh, yeah. You’ll finish it in time to wear it. As for me? I finished knitting Hummelo, the summer cardigan I started last May. (I had to fight the urge to type this in all caps.) I don’t know if my knitting mojo is reliably back, but I’ll take whatever it gives me! And I do need to block then seam Hummelo, but it’s pretty major that it’s off the needles.
I think you’ll wear it! I had to out my Musselburgh down so I will have it for travel next week. That round and round and round is pretty addicting! (Thanks for the nudge!)

I bet that sweater will get some action this year, especially since you are enjoying the yarn. Go Kym Go. It’s a great design. Although it’s been awhile, I don’t mind knitting a sweater in pieces. My favorite cabled cardigan was knit in pieces and it has sure held its shape.
Keep going and you will wear it this year.
I am very slowly and carefully and occasionally knitting a pair of double-thick socks for my DIL. This strained thumb requires babying, hence the slow and careful and occasional. Seems to be working, though. We knitters have to take good care of our hands!
