It’s time for another gift!
Today, I offer you the Simple Gift of . . . WHIMSY.
Imagine with me here . You’re out for walk on a lovely day in . . . say, Cornwall . . . and you encounter a woman on a scooter . . . carrying a mini-Dachshund – sporting sun goggles – in a carry-basket . . . accompanied by two trotting Shetland ponies WEARING MATCHING FAIR ISLE SWEATERS.
Would you be amazed?
Would you be amused?
Would it make your day?
That’s some powerful WHIMSY right there, my friends!
Emma Massingale is a horse trainer in Cornwall (UK). She actually uses the words “joyful chaos” to describe her rural lifestyle and adventurous spirit. Sounds like WHIMSY to me!
May your December be filled with Simple Gifts . . . and WHIMSY.
=====
I’ll be adding more Simple Gifts for you to open throughout the month of December, so stay tuned. (There is no schedule. The gifts will just . . . appear . . . from time to time.)
If you’d like to re-visit my blog-advent-calendars from 2023 and 2024, you can follow these links:

Those ponies! When the pony gives her a kiss! I think she is more than a horse trainer, she is an animal whisperer. Thanks for this, Kym, it made me smile so wide.
I’m impressed that someone knit matching fair isle sweaters for all of them and even more amazed that someone dressed the horses in them! I do hope the dachsund doesn’t feel left out, but maybe his sweater is in the process of being knit.
I am mostly offended that I will likely *never* see a woman on a scooter with a dachshund and Shetland ponies, even if they are all naked (well not the woman). The sweaters are just the final insult.
I’m enjoying and always searching for more whimsey this year! Thanks for that cute video!
Wonderful!! What joy it would be to come across this woman and her animals when I’m out and about.
oh my goodness.
My only question is why the dog didn’t have a sweater to match the others! But this was delightful in every way.
Adding this to my life goals! hahaha! Whimsy is such a fun word, I need to remember to recognize it when it shows up.
Very, very cute! But why am I seeing a Yorkie when everyone else says it’s a dachsund. And can’t it have its own sweater design? Why should it go along with the crowd?? Is there a video showing how she dresses those ponies? Wouldn’t that be something!
A.Dor.ABLE!! Those ponies! I am sending this video to Vivi… (and pray that she does not ask me to knit her and her horse matching sweaters! Ha!)
How does she get the sweaters on those ponies. Whimsy sounds like a good idea to me.
