Yep. Here I am with another un-planned blog post. I know a lot of you – like me – are unsure of what to do and who to listen to right now. I am here to share a couple of resources for you (and if you can’t access these links but want to, let me know and I’ll figure out how to get them to you in another form).
First, for a detailed and factual explanation at what is happening with Musk and USAID and (likely) your personal information, today’s edition of The Preamble (@sharonsaysso’s Substack newsletter) is excellent. It’s free. It’s shareable. There are action steps at the end.
Second, for MANY links to Things You Can Do, here is an article from Oldster Magazine, another excellent Substack newsletter that is typically focused on aging (as in . . . we’re ALL aging, no matter our age) but that today offers a plethora of excellent options for taking action.
It’s time, friends.
We’ve got some work to do.
I can barely stand to read all of this, but at the same time I can’t stand to look away. I just made an appointment with my primary doc to talk about medication. I’ve written my senators (both Democrats) and will call them but their canned responses reflect the same sense of paralysis I feel.
Thank you, as always, for these resources. I had a check-in chat with my boss this morning, and we were both sort of flummoxed that we just don’t know how to plan for anything because every day they do something else or issue yet another EO.
Spending time at our CAC today…everything is tied to funding. It’s terrifying. 🙁
I’m invigorated by my rage-fueled resistance. Rock on, Sista’!
In other news: To illustrate your status as An Influencer, I meant to call your attention to the hoodie I was wearing yesterday. (But, you know, distractions.) I bought it several years ago after one of your blog posts directed me to Litographs, a website that sells products printed with the words from classics. Mine was Walden. Love it.
Excellent suggestions, both of those! I would also add in the 5 Calls app… don’t write to your elected officials, they do not read what you write – ever. Calls are what is important and 5 Calls makes it super easy… plus it has topics to choose from for your calls… scripts included. I have used it twice this week and it is insanely easy. The point is the chaos… we just need to stay focused (despite our elected officials being extremely unfocused at the moment…. the calls help.)
I read about the 5 Calls app today, and was ready to download it, but it’s only for iphone. They seem to have a website that worked really well for me today. I’m done writing to my representatives!
