We have returned home after spending nearly a week up north. It was quite rainy one day, so Erin and I decided to do a little needle felting to pass the time. (I had packed a couple of mini-kits from Felted Sky with me, anticipating a Bad Weather Day.) Erin had never tried needle felting before, but was a quick study!
She made this adorable little sheep!
I started making mushrooms, but didn’t make such quick progress. I’m still working on them now that we’re back home. (It’s the spots. Which are a bit tedious, but also charming.)
Maybe they’ll be finished next week?
Stay tuned. . .
==========
How about you? What are you making this week?
That sheep!!! 🙂
That sheep is right! How incredibly cute! But those mushrooms… a.dor.able! (I think my Gnomes might need a few of those!)
Erin was indeed a quick study! That sheep is adorable and she’s felted him with a very sweet expression. I also like the mushrooms; the texture of the felted wool looks very “mushroomy”. But I do wonder why JoJo is not showing rapt attention. Maybe she just likes knitting and embroidery better.
Erin’s sheep is adorable! She’s as talented as her mother.
Needle felting IS a great rainy day project. What a great idea to pack a few kits. I learned needle felting (and wet felting) from my kids, when my oldest was 8. (Thanks to her Waldorf early ed.) I love that it’s a project anyone can do, really runs the gamut. I’ve also used it to repair a few wool sweaters (the lazy way, perhaps 🙂 ).
Oh cute! I’ve never done needle felting, but those mushrooms… tempting.
I’m, uh, making SWIFTIE bracelets!! haha. And continuing to knit temperature stripes.
Oh lordy ………..that little sheep is something else. I think the sheep needs a few mushrooms for company.
little felted sheep – how did YOU resist joining in that fun?! I know you’re having a great time with Erin and thank you for spending a bit of time with us, too!
Adorable! I find needle felting to be a lot of fun when I’m stressed — nothing releases it like stabbing something hundreds of times!
Great job with the needle felting! I always end up poking myself and bleeding all over the roving!
I bought a small needle felting kit years ago, but have never ever tried it. But I refuse to pass it along, because I just have a feeling that one day that will be THE activity that strikes me!
I like both the sheep and your mushrooms, good jobs.
Those are so cute and the perfect rainy day activity!
So cute! I took a needle felting sheep class in MA years ago. We had a good laugh as our sheep looked nothing like the sample we were trying to make. I bought a kit last year and foam pad (not sure where my original is) and have some other small kits around but I tend top poke myself so haven’t started any lately. Love the sheep and mushrooms.
I love that little sheep and the mushrooms too. I’ve never tried needle felting but you make it look like fun. I’m stitching on another cloth pouch for daughter’s birthday. She reads my blog so it won’t make an appearance there until after I deliver it to her. I bet it was fun to be up north with Erin.
Love the sheep also! And ditto everything Bridget said! Every time I see an adorable mushroom I want to add a little fairy sitting on top of it with a forest as a backdrop. Probably an illustration in a childhood book that never let me go…:). Glad you had such a wonderful time with Erin!
