These days, I’m all about finding joy in the little things.
And sometimes that joy . . . comes wrapped in a bright pink + neon green color combo.
That you can wear.
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad!
Y’know . . . I have had Isabell Kraemer’s Humulus sweater on my list-of-things-to-knit since it first came out (years ago now). It’s that charming little hops design, y’know? (You did know Humulus lupulus is the botancial name for hops, didn’t you?) Not only does it look great in the yoke of that sweater, but . . . how perfect is it for a beer-drinking wife of a home brewer, huh?
My Humulus hang-up . . . for all these years . . . has been what COLORS to knit my version of the sweater in. I have gone back and forth. Back and forth. Forth. And. Back. I have dreamed up many a color combo for this sweater. I’ve pulled yarn out of my stash. I’ve let it sit on my sewing table to “stew” for a while. But always, always . . . I haven’t been able to settle.
Until I finally decided that bright pink + neon green would do IT.
Just right.
It made me so happy . . . to knit AND to wear.
Color for the win!
So . . . bottoms up, my friends!

How about you? What are you making this week?
I have just discovered your blog. Your knitting is beautiful! I love the sweater and colors are perfect.
It was worth taking however long it took you to reach that color decision – it’s just perfect! It looks like it was fun to knit and looks great on you, and that’s the best kind of knitting!
Perfect!! I never in a million years would have thought of that color combination, but it is truly beautiful. Congratulations on a great finish…and just in time for Fall weather!
Oh Kym, I LOVE this one! And you are completely correct, the pink and green are perfect together in this project. Wear it in good health, and whenever you can, while enjoying some beer. 🙂
It’s fantastic, Kym, and it looks great on you! I knit mine years ago and have worn it so much that it’s starting to completely stretch out of shape. It’s such a great sweater (I might just have to knit another!).
Beautifully done Kym! And very inspiring!
That sweater looks so pretty on you! Great color combo and a great beer-drinkin’ sweater. ENJOY!
I am in LOVE with your color choice of Humulus! I have knit 3 of these, seems I pick a pattern for one of my daughters and the other insists on me knitting the same pattern for her. Love this pattern.
Dad had an expression he used with Mom: “If it makes you happy, Baby, it tickles the hell out of me.”
This is great, and I can’t wait to see it again, in person, now that it’s finished. I’m surprised by how much I like the color combination, and it looks so good on you. Cheers!
Your new sweater is gorgeous! That color combination is so lovely and it will brighten the darkest days of winter. I hope you enjoy wearing it!
This sweater might just be my favorite of all the things you have knit for yourself! The color and design are perfect for you. Nice sneakers, too.
Oh my goodness–I think we need a re-do of our Agatha of Little Neon discussion, because this sweater is a great match for the book cover!! Love it. And, yes– here’s to little joys. They’re where it’s at, for sure.
That looks terrific–but everything you share does, so no surprise there!
Not a color combo I would have imagined, it OMG is it perfect!
That is a wonderful combination! It looks lovely.
I love the colors you chose. It looks great!
What a great color combination for that sweater. It’s beautiful. I am with you, I’m looking for joy in small things. So here’s to finding joy in our knitting and elsewhere too.
Congratulations! I’m so glad you found the right way to make YOUR Humulus! I think that color combination will make everyone around you happy as well. I also love that while that combo is certainly vibrant, that IS a color of fresh hops, especially on the vine. (The green, not the pink, of course!) Enjoy!
That’s fantastic!! Cheers!!
That IS a great color combination, Kym, particularly on you, and with the bright denim shirt underneath. Love that you feature it with that brimming stein of beer. One of my new things of joy. Cheers! Chloe
