Oh, friends.
I finished up my bright pink and neon green sweater. I was on the verge of plunging into the (tedious) process of piecing together my blanket (aka The Prodigal Son) when . . .
WHAM!
Somebody new (and very, very shiny) caught my eye. And my attention. And my imagination.
And, my-oh-my. I was S-M-I-T-T-E-N.
I’m afraid I’ve got a new member in my dysfunctional knitting family.
Meet . . . The New Kid.
I mean, really.
Can you blame me?
I was a total sucker for that Pressed Flowers Shawl when it came out a few years ago. Like . . . in that drop-everything-and-cast-on kind of way. (Flower motifs. They get me every time.) I knit it up in a flash . . . but I never wore the shawl (it was the size and shape), and ended up gifting it instead.
A cardigan, though?
Oh, I’ll wear that!
So far, The New Kid and I are getting along splendidly. The rows are long and the yarn is thin, so we’ll be spending a lot of time together, and we’ll have ample opportunity to get to know one another.
(Sorry Prodigal Son. You’ll have to wait just a bit longer . . . )
=====
How about you? What are you making this week?
I love your yarn choices! So much! And YaY for departing from Ribbing Indenture! 🙂
I just unraveled a few inches on a sweater when I realized that what I thought was a tiny good now looked enormous to me. Sigh. But I know I will be happier in the end. At least I didn’t have to take out any of the colorwork!
I do not blame you one bit! Maybe when the rows feel a little too long, you’ll take a break to do a bit of seaming. Sounds like a good balance to me, actualy!
I almost want to whine that it’s not fair that I started a cardigan before I saw yours! That is a terrific pattern and I also love your yarn choices. I can see why “everybody’s talking ’bout the new kid in town”!
Oh that is so cool. And you more or less already know the pattern, right? Do you read/hear audiobooks while knitting? I’ve just checked out a library one to help me through my next stockinette project. Probably would work for seaming too.
GORGEOUS!!!! Enjoy time with your new family member.
The New Kid In Town is looking good!
Oooo, I hadn’t met the new kid and wow! she’s beautiful! She’ll fit right into your look and she’ll be fun to hang around with!
Oh I’ve been seeing that one here and there and I actually thought of you! I knew you had made the pressed flowers shawl (hadn’t realized you gifted it). That will be an AMAZING cardigan. Enjoy the journey!!
I just bought the yarn for this one – I’m a sucker for Spincycle and THEN I bought yarn for Jennifer Berg’s new Eye Dazzler Sweater. These are both things *I* want to wear. I think I’m casting on for Eye Dazzler first, but it’s hard to choose. First I need to finish a second mitten for a birthday (that’s next week! Eek!) and then I’ll be off to the races. All in the family. I think your new kid might end up being the “pet”.
That sweater is going to be PERFECT for you! I love it! And Style School has me evaluating knitting ideas in all kinds of new ways.
Oooh! I like this much, much better than when you showed me the pattern on your phone… because I can actually see the stitches is these pictures. No wonder you like it so much! My first thought was intarsia (which I avoid) but this carrying-through of color is a fantastic look. You kids have fun!
I’ve seen a few of these on Instagram and everyone is loving them! Fun knit!
I’ve recently been waylaid by the kid sized Whidbey. I’ll probable make a couple of them for my daughter’s friends’ babies.
Also, eagerly anticipating the new DRK pattern dropping tomorrow. The sneak peeks are all so enchanting!
Looks good! I have to finish up two little girl sweaters and then I think it’s time for one for me, me, me.
I like your colors. I have to look into that pattern.
That’s gorgeous! I do love that shawl (and I wear mine quite often!)
That new kid is very handsome. Enjoy your time with a new project.
Loving the new kid. That is a wonderful colour combo.
