Okay. So here I am, just cruising along with my sweater . . .
when this “reminder” on my phone pops up. Turns out it’s time for my annual get-the-adorable-pumpkin-kit-out-of-the-drawer-and-think-about-making-it-for-a-few-weeks-while-knowing-you-won’t.
(You can read the backstory here.)
So I pulled the little kit out of the drawer. And then I opened the envelope and pulled all the pieces out and looked at them for awhile. I read the (sparse) directions again. I sighed. I came very close to throwing the whole thing in the trash. But those pumpkins are so very adorable. And the finished piece would so perfectly fit in with my Halloween holiday décor.
So . . .
I decided to give it one afternoon’s worth of my time and see what happened.
It was a pretty miserable afternoon.
Because my favorite thing to do is NOT . . . fiddly cutting of wool pieces. AND it is NOT fusing them together, either. But when the afternoon was up, I had this . . .
It’s all ready for stitching now.
And I am charmed.
So.
Now I’m juggling two projects.
Just like that!
=====
How about you? What are you making this week?
Just the best little faces there. 🙂 I’m crocheting an afghan! New craft for me – good mindless fun.
That is just too cute, Kym! (But that fusing thing… yeah, it is just so not fun!)
But your sweater! Go you! That is looking awesome (and will compliment those pumpkins!)
That is really cute….but yep, fiddly.
I am giving you a long-distance pat on the back for finally dealing with those fiddly pumpkins! The sweater is looking amazing, too.
Thanks again for a great discussion last night. Can’t wait to read and talk about the next book — and of course put together some visual aids!
I have been ruthlessly sorting and purging my craft stuff and this week I uncovered a kit that I impulse bought and never really looked at it. So I pulled it out, read the instructions, and looked at all the materials and then I put it in the donation box. It feels good to know what things are not for me.
The pumpkins are about as cute and fun as they can be! So worth the fiddling around to get them in place.
I enjoyed the discussion last night and was sad to have to leave when the discussion was in a great spot. 🙁 Did you reveal the next book? I’m sorry I couldn’t stick it out. (It’s SnB night.)
Oh, and your sweater is AMAZING! Love the vibrancy and it looks like it will be a perfect to wear in the autumn weather!
I’m not much for fiddly, but all of those faces are charming and I bet the stitching will be fun. This reminder-on-your-phone stuff really seems to work! And that sweater! I love the pattern and the colors. (I actually looked for yarn in those colors at NJ Sheep & Wool but didn’t see any so I won’t be copying you -yet!)
OH MY WORD . . . is that not the cutest thing?????
Socks, socks, socks, socks, and a Hitchhiker.
Looking forward to seeing the stitched pumpkins. Hurray for phone reminders!
Just mailed off another baby sweater for the daughter’s friends (Henry’s Sweater by Sara Elizabeth Kellner; gave her some links and my daughter and her husband chose this one). Knitted a second one at the same time (it’s drying now) so I would be ahead of the game for the next friend!
That means I’m back to work on the the two Petite Knit No Frills Sweaters for the the girls for Christmas. THIS is why I start Christmas knitting in July. Constant interruptions!
The pumpkins are adorable – what a win/win — you have something cute, and you can turn off that reminder (I’m impressed you had one). Your Humulus is going to be wonderful!
I’m putzing along on the Honeycomb scarf I started on my vacation, but musing about starting a sweater my daughter asked for. I’m usually a one-project-at-a-time person, but the scarf is a little bit boring, and there’s no deadline.
Your sweater is looking great! I love the colors and it almost makes me want to abandon the two gray projects I’m knitting and order some colorful yarn and knit with that. But, I’m very near the end of a grayish (flecked with rainbow colors) Musselburgh hat and I’m about 1/3 of the way through a gray lacey scarf that I really want to finish for the cooler weather.
Your pumpkins are charming and the stitching will be the best part. I don’t like fusing and have even basted pieces like these to avoid it!
I really enjoyed our discussion last night and I want to thank you, Bonny, & Carole for hosting Read With Us!
The pumpkins are just the cutest!! BUT, your sweater…SWOON – those colors together are amazing Kym and it will look so wonderful on you. Thanks again for last night’s meet up – I thoroughly enjoyed it and am so glad I’m part of the group.
OMG I LOVE THAT!!!
And your sweater is looking lovely – it’s so funny how we are knitting with the same color combo. 🙂
I love the colors of your sweater. Love the little pumpkins.
I have a few little embroidery/wool kits that I’ve picked up over the years from Epicurean Boutique at Rhinebeck or ordered from her. I follow her and just notice she’s going to be at The Fiber Festival of New England so I may make it there this year to look at more kits that I hope to make in the future.
What a sweet little stitching project. The sweater is beautiful. It’s going to be gorgeous with your coloring and hair color. I’m afraid I’m always juggling a few projects but the process makes me happy.
Oh yay! I’m so glad that won’t be sitting in a drawer anymore!!
xo
I’m so proud of you. 🙂
