Ain’t She Sweet
Ain’t she sweet? See her coming down the street
Now, I ask you very confidentially, ain’t she sweet?
Ain’t she nice? Look her over once or twice
Now, I ask you very confidentially, ain’t she nice?
Pattern: Baby Kylie
Designer: Ann Klimpert of Chalkboard Knits
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Wool Fine, which is a fingering weight yarn, 100% Superwash wool with a reasonable price point. (Machine washable and dryable, so perfect for a baby sweater.) Colors used: Frost (main color) and Heather (contrast)
Needles: Size 3
Finished: August 2024
Made for: Lottie
Size: 6-12 months
Details and notes: This is a sweet little baby sweater with good instructions and a non-traditional construction (the sweater itself is a standard top-down design, but the sleeves are knit flat and seamed; the instructions are clear – and clever). The yarn is really perfect for a baby sweater — warm, soft, AND (best of all) machine wash and dryable. The pattern calls for 510 yards of main color yarn for the size I knit (6-12 months) and only 65 yards of contrast yarn. The skeins of Ultra Wool Fine yarn have 400 yards . . . so I had PLENTY of extra yarn. There would be enough yarn to make a hat and booties (if you’re into matching sets) (I’m not). The yarn is easy to work with, although slightly splitty. I did get stitch gauge with this yarn and needle combination, but not row gauge. The pattern gives both row count and measurement in the instructions, though, so I just went with the measurements – especially important for the yoke.
Really nice pattern, and I do love the look of the sweater.
(I also made the collage gift tag with relevant information/care instructions to include with the sweater.)
