When last I left you . . . with my baby sweater in pieces . . . I was wondering if I might prefer a little sleeve with “mini stripes.”
Well.
Now I know!
I knit part of a mini-stripe sleeve. The stripes were cute. But . . . I knew right away that it wasn’t going to work. I sent these two photos to my sister so she could see . . .
and she concurred. “Not digging the mini-stripes” she texted right back.
So. No more wondering! (And I’m glad to have given those stripes a try, because it would’ve bugged me if I hadn’t.)
It’s just a solid press to the finish now . . . seam, block, buttons!
(Good thing . . . because this baby is due any second.)

It’s a good thing you tried it out, but I agree, those mini stripes are way too busy!
At least now you don’t have to wonder! Very cute sweater. Is the back pink? Or did you abandon the pink? Just curious. I know the recipient is going to love it.

I agree. It was something fun to try, but it’s also very easy to see that it just didn’t fit with the aesthetic of the rest of the sweater. What you’ve settled on is adorable, though!
Still knitting a sweater for Chuck, but I also made a separate “bundle” on Ravelry to share with an expectant mom. I’d like to give her some choice in a sweater or toy for their baby coming this fall. This sweater is in the bundle.

Oh, I think it turned out great! I love the bright colors. It looks like you kept the pink for the back, right? Maybe you can keep the mini-stripe sleeve in case another juxtaposition for the same pattern comes to you one day? Hate to see all that work go to waste (it’s little, yes, but a lot of twisting and turning for every color change, right?).
Well not that much work. I see you only knit half a sleeve. A sensible strategy worthy of any good knitter.
That is a darling little sweater. I agree with you and your sister on the width of the sleeve stripes. I mean is a sister ever going to stir you in the wrong direction?
Also in agreement about the sleeves. Love those colors together! I’m knitting a sweater but just re-started as even though I got gauge thought it needed to be bigger. All good!!
