You know what’s really nice about knitting for a new baby on the way? You get plenty of notice! (And if you make your sweater to fit a baby as it grows, well. You’ve just bought yourself a couple of extra months.)

So this one? Well. It’s right on time in terms of gifting. But there’s going to be plenty of time before it’s ready for wearing! And, really, that’s usually my strategy for baby sweater knitting. I project into the future, size-wise, for when the baby might be needing a warm sweater . . . and I knit for THAT size baby.

Anyway. The baby has arrived. And the sweater is ready for her . . . whenever she grows into it.

I also created this cute little “tag,” complete with sweater information and care instructions. (All that fodder comes in handy, y’know?)

If you’d like to see more photos and read all the details about the more technical aspects of the knitting, you can check my Field Notes.
