Yes.
I still knit.
Although it’s been a minute since I’ve mentioned it around here.
At the beginning of the summer, I started knitting AnkeStrick’s Garden Cardigan in a lovely green yarn from Brooklyn Tweed that ended up . . . not working out like I’d hoped it would. So after a good start, I ripped it all out and started pondering my strategy. Again. (The yarn turned out to be heavier than I had imagined/wanted, AND I’d need to alternate skeins for the whole dang cardigan, and I just wasn’t in the mood for that.)
Despite that rough start, I still wanted to knit the cardigan! I really like the look of the design, and I know it’s a sweater I’d actually want to wear. Although the pattern looks kinda tricky, it really isn’t — it’s straighforward knitting with a lovely result. I also . . . didn’t want to purchase any yarn for it. (I have plenty of yarn, and I am somewhat committed to using it up.) So I spent the summer pondering and knitting up gauge swatches (. . . and, of course, embroidering).
Finally, I decided to go with Rowan Felted Tweed. Although I really wanted a green Garden Cardigan . . . I already had enough of the Felted Tweed in my stash to make a purple (technically it’s “Bilberry”) Garden Cardigan. Needs must.
So far, so good. The weight is perfect. I’m getting gauge. I love knitting with Felted Tweed. The knitting is pleasant and enjoyable. Purple is fine. (I’ve accepted and moved on . . . about not having the green Garden Cardigan of my dreams.) Things are moving right along again. (Although I may end up putting it on hold for a bit, while I knit up a few holiday-ish things I have in mind . . . )
So, yes. I do knit.
Again.

How about you? What are you making this week?
That large quantity of sweater shows you have been knitting in your life even if you’re not talking about knitting on the blog. Carry on with Bilberry!
This post gives me some sweater knitting hope! (which I desperately need right now! loll) That purple yarn is lovely!
I love RFT and Bilberry is a great choice for a FALL cardigan, right? It reminds me of beautyberry! I’m puttng the finishing touches on one last summer sweater this week and looking forward to something wooly next.
Bilberry is such a lovely color! And you have obviously been knitting (and embroidering). I wonder what holiday knitting plans you might have….

Love that Bilberry color! And it’s hard to go wrong with Felted Tweed. May it ever be spun. Can’t wait to see the sweater. Am working on a stash-busting blanket because (A) I need to use up some stash and (B) need something mindless and easy at the moment. And so far it is portable. So far….:).
The purple may not be green, but it’s just as lovely, and I’m sure it’s a relief that this yarn is working out better!
Oh, that’s one of my favorite colors!! It’s going to be a gorgeous sweater!
That is going to be a lovely sweater. I hope you are enjoying the process. For me, it is all about the process. I am not knitting, but I have received my first kit from Snuggly Monkey, and I am excited to get back to my favorite craft. Thanks for the link to Snuggly Monkey! I have fixed my WordPress account and hopefully I won’t leave any mysterious comments in future.
I agree that the Bilberry is reminiscent of Beautyberry! So lovely. My question– will the Bilberry Garden Sweater get some garden embroidery enhancement?? I may be seeing some kind of ivy or vine climbing the spaces between the trellis of your knitting…
Currently knitting Cirrus by Nancy O’Connell ( https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cirrus-10 ) from Jade Swish Worsted reclaimed from a 2014 sweater my daughter no longer wears, and the Thistle Thorn Cowl by Lavanya Patricella ( https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/thistle-thorn-cowl) in Spincyle’s Dyed in the Wool, colors Eventide (Black Mountain Yarn Shop exclusive colorway) and Salty Dog. Hopefully I’ll get them into my project list one of these days (midjmcb on Ravelry).
That’s a great color, and I know you’ll love the sweater!
You can never go wrong with Felted Tweed and I think that purple is lovely. Some day a pattern will present itself for the perfect green cardigan.
I like the color and Felted Tweed is a great yarn. This looks like something you’ll wear and wear (and will be in need of soon!).
I love to knit with Felted Tweed. The Bilberry is a lovely color. I look forward to seeing more of this sweater. I’ve looked at that pattern and will be anxious to hear about the rest of your experience with it. So far, so very good.
