Yes.
I still knit.

Although it’s been a minute since I’ve mentioned it around here.

At the beginning of the summer, I started knitting AnkeStrick’s Garden Cardigan in a lovely green yarn from Brooklyn Tweed that ended up . . . not working out like I’d hoped it would. So after a good start, I ripped it all out and started pondering my strategy. Again. (The yarn turned out to be heavier than I had imagined/wanted, AND I’d need to alternate skeins for the whole dang cardigan, and I just wasn’t in the mood for that.)

Despite that rough start, I still wanted to knit the cardigan! I really like the look of the design, and I know it’s a sweater I’d actually want to wear. Although the pattern looks kinda tricky, it really isn’t — it’s straighforward knitting with a lovely result. I also . . . didn’t want to purchase any yarn for it. (I have plenty of yarn, and I am somewhat committed to using it up.) So I spent the summer pondering and knitting up gauge swatches (. . . and, of course, embroidering).

Finally, I decided to go with Rowan Felted Tweed. Although I really wanted a green Garden Cardigan . . . I already had enough of the Felted Tweed in my stash to make a purple (technically it’s “Bilberry”) Garden Cardigan. Needs must.

So far, so good. The weight is perfect. I’m getting gauge. I love knitting with Felted Tweed. The knitting is pleasant and enjoyable. Purple is fine. (I’ve accepted and moved on . . . about not having the green Garden Cardigan of my dreams.) Things are moving right along again. (Although I may end up putting it on hold for a bit, while I knit up a few holiday-ish things I have in mind . . . )

So, yes. I do knit.
Again.
