And all of a sudden . . . it’s looking rather sweater-like! Things are taking shape.
It feels like I’ve been knitting this cardigan for months now. Because I have been knitting this cardigan for months now.
You may recall that way back in June, I was almost at the same point in knitting this same cardigan – in a different yarn (it was green) – when I discovered an issue with said yarn . . . and made the painful decision to rip it all out (you can refresh your memory with this post if you want).
I couldn’t face beginning again with another yarn right away. So I knit a baby sweater and did a lot of embroidery . . . and stewed about it.
Eventually I started swatching. And eventually I cast on for Attempt #2.
I’m feeling pretty good about things at this point. I really like the yarn I finally settled on (this one). I love the pattern. The knitting is a little bit tedious, but also not boring. (It’s tv-watch-able . . . if I’m careful.) And I’ve gotten past the point in the knitting where I needed to rip-and-give-up on Attempt #1, so it feels more . . . fresh. Like I’m finally making progress. (Don’t get me wrong, though. It’s slow progress.)
I’m liking the shape this one is taking. And I feel like I’m (finally) over my knitting slump.
How about you? What are you making this week?
Beautiful! Perfect color! I think you will be very happy with it, Kym.
I love it! And especially the color. It’s gonna be beautiful! I’m knitting on hats for the 6 younger grandkids. Starting Christmas knitting early this year. I should be knitting on a large circular shawl but it takes about half an hour to get around it once. It’s gotten to be a bit of a drag and I feel like I’m not getting anywhere on it. I wish there were knitting fairies that would knit on that while I sleep! 😄
Ooo! That is going to be lovely, Kym! And YAY for pushing through that damned knitting slump! I have a sock to finish… and a gnome… and then my Marl Color Theory Shawl. I am staying focused to get them all done! But!! I pulled out my pug dog sweater** pattern yesterday… I am certain that a wee pup will appreciate an extra layer on walks!
** pug sweaters are not the same as dog sweaters!
I predict you are going to love this sweater! I love it already. It looks very wearable while being very pretty. I cannot seem to get out of my knitting slump, but I think cooler weather will help. NetGalley dumped so many requested books on me at once that I am reading frantically right now to meet the publish/archive dates. After that, it’s embroidery. My mojo is not working consistently these days.
Gorgeous colour. It’s going to be lovely.
That is going to be a lovely cardigan, Kym! I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time for knitting or stitching, but things should get better by the end of October. I am itching to start and to finish some projects!
It’s a great color and I’m glad it’s engaging but not overly so. I’m still in a knitting slump and I still blame Fred & George.
Oooh, that’s looking great!! I’m cast on for another dishcloth last night… I think that’s #6 in this round.
I can stop whenever I want to! haha.
I love the design and construction of that pattern. Rowan Tweed is a lovely yarn and I think your sweater will be beautiful. Can’t wait to see you model it!
That color is going to look so pretty on you.
That sweater looks great! It’s socks for days at my house.
Phew, I am glad this second attempt is back on track and it’s working out well! I think this purple is going to be so pretty on you, too.
I just started another pair of socks and another baby hat. I really need to swatch for a sweater soon!
That is lovely and I hope it keeps on being that way! I heard a warning signal when I read “It’s tv-watch-able . . . if I’m careful.” I just made a big rookie mistake with a hat, but my second attempt is going much better (so far).
That will be wonderful cardigan! Love the color and glad it is going well.
I ripped! It just wasn’t going anywhere. (I suppose not the sweater’s fault???) I liked it and may go back in the spring. Moving in a more really tv friendly mode for the cooler weather.
That’s going to be lovely! And Rowan Felted Tweed is one of my faves. I can’t wait to see the finished sweater, I hope you’ll be happy with it.
I love that cardigan. and my latest cast-on is also Rowan Felted Tweed. I haven’t knit with it for a few years and it’s lovely.
What a gorgeous sweater. I do like that the button band is knit right along with the body. I do believe I picked up your knitting slump. Not much going on here but I have been doing some slow stitching and some spinning. Not to mention that I have quite a bit of outdoor work.
