It’s still unseasonably chilly here. With plenty of rain. (Trust me, that rain barrel is Full To The Brim.) The garden is coming to life . . . slowly. And the sun is shining now and again. (But not much. And not for long.)
So.
That means I’m still just fine with man-sized, heavy wool, fishing sweater knitting.
And I have progress to report! The back is finished, complete with lovely, sloping shoulders that are ready for the (eventual) saddle shoulder construction. And I cast on for the front, completing the ribbing portion of the sweater-body last night. Now it’s just . . . cruising along in stockinette! For a long, long time.
(And because I had a couple of questions last week . . . That green yarn up the side there? It’s just how I count/keep track of rows. I’ll pull it out once the sweater front matches the sweater back.)
Oh. And as far the yarn for that baby sweater I showed you last week?
It’s Option 2 all the way!
(Although if I were knitting a sweater for myself, I’d go with Option 1. But this is . . . well. Not for me.) (And those Option 2 colors are a lot more saturated than they appear. They are not pastels . . . Not really.)

How about YOU? What are you making this week?
It has been very cool and rainy here for at least 14 days. It really affects my mood when I don’t have any sunshine! But I am reminding myself every hour that soon it will be 95 with 100% humidity, and that I will be looking back on these days longingly. So all I am working on is some kitchen cooking adventures, which is definitely enough for me right now. Congratulations on making so much progress on the sweater with weather synergy!
Tom’s sweater is looking great Kym! Nice going to get the back finished and the front started. It’s been unseasonably cold here and wet too. I suppose the gardens are happy and the plants that recently were put in will enjoy being watered…but…I would like it to be a little warmer (NOT hot) and sunnier.
I’m glad the weather is cooperating and allowing you to knit a man-sized wool sweater. I wonder if the summer will be cool overall now that Carole is knitting a sweater, too! But we’ve got predictions for temps of 88 next week, so keep knitting while you can. But there is that baby sweater to start also; I’ll look forward to seeing that.
Wow. GREAT progress!! It’ll be pretty smooth sailing to the finish when/if you have to set it aside due to heat!
You are just cruising along on Tom’s sweater… and you get bonus points for making a bit of an impromptu KAL with Carole! And thank you for putting that baby sweater on my radar… I did toss the stash a bit and I have some colors that will work… but none of them are “easy care” so I have a reason to do a bit of yarn shopping! Woot!
It’s been cool and rainy here, too. Not so great for being outside, but it’s certainly good knitting weather! You’re making excellent progress on Tom’s sweater (and I’m guessing partly that’s because you don’t want to be knitting on it when it finally gets hot). I’m sure that baby sweater is going to be adorable whatever the palette!
Perfect sweater knitting weather!
Sweater is looking good! Will you be knitting the sleeves in the round, Kym? I find that all garter knitting goes so much faster than stockinette. As I fully realized having just finished a blanket. Of course, you may not like that construction. Apparently seams make a sweater sturdier and Tom has all that pulling on a fishing line to do.
Look at you go on the fishing sweater! It’s like a preview of what’s to come for me and I love and appreciate that. I got out one of Dale’s favorite sweaters yesterday and compared what I’ve knit so far and I think the fit is going to be just right. Of course, I’ve said that before . . .
Excellent progress…sad weather situation! It’s been the same here. I’m all cotton baby goods knitting and must be done by Tuesday. Nothing like a deadline!!
