It’s summertime . . . and the reading is easy! Bonny and Carole and I are excited to announce the summer Read With Us book selection . . .
The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley.
This genre-bending debut novel promises to be a fun, entertaining, and highly discussable read — just perfect for summer. Although I haven’t read it yet, it sounds like it’s . . . a little bit thriller, a little bit romance, and a whole lot of interesting! In his review for the Washington Post, reviewer Ron Charles (one of my personal favorite reviewers, by the way) described The Ministry of Time this way . . . “Imagine if ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ had an affair with ‘A Gentleman in Moscow.’ That hook alone makes me eager to dive in!
We’ll be talking more about the book and providing additional background information over the next several weeks. Then . . . mark your calendars for our blog book discussions/Zoom discussion on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 (7:00 pm Eastern time).
Please be sure to visit the new Read With Us resource page for more information about the book and our discussion.
We hope you’ll be as excited as we are to read The Ministry of Time.
C’mon along!
Grab a cool beverage, find yourself a comfy chair . . . and Read With Us this summer!
As I commented on both Carole’s and Bonny’s posts, this book is intriguing to me. I’m in the queue at my library (#72!!).
Leave it to Ron Charles to write an interesting description! I’m going to be taking good notes during my second reading.
I am on the list and eager to get my hands on this one!
I saw this at the bookstore – I love the cover 😉
Looking forward to it! A friend said she was completely overwhelmed by the story…
This will be a great book to discuss! I plan to re-read it so I can pick up on some things that I missed the first time I read it.
That description from Ron Charles is perfect! I’m about half way through it now and I think it will be highly discussable.
Oh I’ve been wanting to read this one so I will plan to join in on this one!
I read this one last week, and, tragically, not a fan. Gave it 2.5✭ on Goodreads rounded up to a 3. You can read my review there if you want.
I also read this one last week and I’m a HUGE FAN! Not sure I quite got the same vibe that Ron Charles did, but I can definitely see where he’s coming from. Immediately after finishing, I listened to/watched a few podcasts with the author and it warms my heart that she’s quite simply charming (and obviously smart)!
