Pumpkin Party
Pattern and Kit from The Little Red Hen Online, although I didn’t purchase the kit online. I picked it up at the Epicurean Boutique (the website does not appear to be up to date) at Rhinebeck back in 2015. (Apparently she is at Rhinebeck every year? Check it out if you’re there. . . )
Finished September 2022
Notes
I originally purchased this kit at Rhinebeck (New York Sheep & Wool) in October 2015. Each year, I have faithfully removed the kit from my craft kit storage drawer, taken a look at the directions, and then . . . put it back in the drawer (y’know . . . for another year). Finally, in 2022, I took the plunge and got started (and finished). It is one of the cutest things I’ve ever made.
I found the directions to be . . . sparse and cryptic. I found the cutting and fusing to be . . . tedious. Some of the wool included in the kit was, well, not great quality. I subbed in some of my own wool stash for some pieces. The embroidery was the fun part! I mostly used the buttonhole stitch, but also did some backstitch and some overhand stitch, too. I opted to forego most of the star buttons (although I did use one) (and they were included with the kit).
I really like the end result, but I’m not sure I’ll ever make a kit like this one again.
