Well. I really didn’t intend to disappear quite as thoroughly as I did. But there you go.
I’ve been . . . busy with some really big projects here at home, both of the sorting-culling-organizing type AND planning for a major renovation project. And I’ve been stressing/prepping for my trip to England (I leave tomorrow). And I’ve been struggling with my sleep (again) and my mental health (unfortunately). Although I’ve often meant to blog, sometimes I get stuck with just not knowing what to even SAY anymore.
So I got in the habit of . . . not blogging.
But I do plan to be back at it, once I return from my trip (which won’t be until the 18th). (Hope you’ll all still be interested in what I have to say when I return . . . )
For relief from all my projects and packing and breakdowns, I’ve been doing a little knitting, a little embroidery, a lot of reading, and a whole lot of art journaling.
A while ago, I got absolutely obsessed with making this little blue book/art journal. When I get back from my trip, I’ll share it with you in more detail. It’s pretty cool . . . and it really helped me through those late January/early February days.
In fact, I loved making this book so much . . . that I started making another one last week. I can’t tell you how helpful this kind of project is for me when I’m struggling and need a good distraction. It’s messy and wild and whimsical . . . and absolutely freeing in a flow kind of way.
The photo at the top of this page is a collage spread I’m working on in my new book/journal. I don’t think it’s finished yet, but maybe? (That’s the joy of art journaling; you just never know where you’re headed until you get there!) I wanted to share it today because of the sentiment . . .
“When you look at the moon, know I am looking at it, too.”
I always like that particular notion — and especially when I’m traveling or away from people I love.
So when you see the moon over the next 12 days, think of me.
And know I’ll be thinking of you, too!
==========
Our Read With Us discussion day is scheduled for March 25, so it will be coming right up after my return. Please be sure to RSVP if you plan to join us for the Zoom. You can just leave a comment here (or with Bonny or Carole), or click the link in my sidebar here on the blog to send me an email RSVP.
Have an amazing time away! I am hopeful that your sleep will improve and soon! I will be looking at the moon and thinking of you as well! XO
Have a great trip!
Thought you might like this poem from my childhood:
I see the moon
The moon sees me
The moon sees the one that I want to see!
Oh, forgot to mention: Did you know that there are online Sashiko pattern generators for free.
Just google it, or if you don’t find one let me know and I’ll send you a link
Messy, Wild, Whimsical and Freeing are all such GOOD things Kym. It certainly sounds as though you have found a good distraction. Wishing you a safe and an amazing trip! Have some FUN. I’ll look at the moon and think of you as well (I often think of those I love when I look at the moon – those both here and gone).
Definitely looking forward to our Zoom call to discuss The Secret History – all those despicable characters!
“I’ll be looking at the moon, but I’ll be seeing you”, lyrics from one of my favorite songs, Kym. Have a wonderful trip, use it as a reset if you can. And, of course, we will always be happy to see any posts from you, whenever, whatever.
Bon Voyage and safe travels! I hope you have a wonderful time, and just think of all the blog fodder you’ll have when you return!
That moon sentiment has comforted me many times … Marc’s been gone for weeks now, and we started making it a habit to note and comment about the moon. It feels connective. Anyway, wishing you marvelous trip, safe travels, and much joy. See you in a few weeks!
I always always want to hear what you have to say. Thanks for catching us up. I really hope your trip is just the break you need from all of the things we are facing around here. I will think of you when I look at the moon, for sure. XOXO
I hope your trip is wonderful and a well-needed distraction from the mess we’re in! Safe travels. I’ll look forward to hearing all about it when you return and to discussing The Secret History!
I get you! I think we’re in similar boats (minus the trip to England!). 🙂
Have fun! Looking forward to hearing all about it.
I love how you share your feelings with us, Kym. It makes me feel like we are all part of the same human race and draws us closer together. I am So. Darn. Jealous. Of your trip to England, though! Even more than knitting I think of myself as a traveler (though not as enterprising about it as Rick Steves, alas). I will eat up every word you have to say about your trip when you get back. Have a wonderful, carefree time and soak up every minute of it!
Safe and relaxing travels Kym. I shall think of you each time I see the moon. xo
I also love that sentiment about the moon. I look forward to seeing more of your art journaling. They are always beautiful and inspiring. Safe travels. May this trip be a boost for mental health and creative inspiration.
Have a wonderful trip! I am hoping to join you all for Read with Me later this month. I’ve been traveling (for fun, and now to help a kid who had surgery last week) so I missed your sleep suggestion post. You already heard some great ideas — I’m a huge fan of Sleep with Me podcast — it’s (like some others) a mildly boring place to attach my racing brain till I fall back asleep – because falling BACK asleep is my issue as well.
Also looking forward to a better look at your blue book –
The moon sentiment hits my heart. I often think of people past and current who have looked at the moon as a touchstone. Safe travels! And, may you find peace and joy along the way. I’ll be looking!
Echoing Margene’s sentiments. The moon is an important spiritual touchstone, connecting us through time and space.
I wish you a restful and rejuvenating trip.
Your book is SPECTACULAR! I’m looking forward to seeing your pages when you’re ready to share them.
Here’s to a fulfilling, restorative, inspiring trip chock full of goodies.
And I’d love to join RWU this month.
Bon voyage!
Me again. I know you are having a wonderful time and may not end up reading this, but by accident, stumbled on your Eleanor Roosevelt quote (missed it first time around) and it was so relevant to a conversation I just had with my sister and So Helpful. Thank you! (Reminds me of my mother’s buckshot theory – you throw things out there never knowing what might stick:). Please keep doing it.
