At times like these, there is no more satisfying project . . . than a needle felting project.
Because, seriously. Nothing beats stabbing rolled up pieces of wool with a barbed needle!
Over
and
over
and
over again.
I started making these little mushrooms way back in June, when Erin was visiting. They have just languished in my pick-it-up-again-someday pile since then. But yesterday, when I couldn’t bear one more minute on Sleeve Island, I decided some stabbing was in order.
Really. This is the most satisfying kind of project for times like these. Y’know. When you’re feeling especially . . . stabby.
How about you? What are you working on these days?
I have only done needle felting once. It was on one of the last days of my Scotland trip and there was a bit of tension with a few of the travelers so it was good timing to be able to punch that wool. I love your mushrooms!
Me thinks you need a bit of a mood song for this post… Hotel California instantly began playing in my head! LOL
I fear the stabbing of needle felting, I remember stabbing myself more than once in a pumpkin felting class I took back in the day! (and that was when my eyesight was MUCH better!)
I do think your mushrooms are just perfect!
What beautiful mushrooms! I was given a needle felting kit YEARS ago, but have only used the barbed needle with pieces of roving to reinforce my hand knit socks that were wearing thin.
Working on getting things off the needles these days as I’m too distracted to face any new projects…
I have the Mario theme in my head looking at those awesome red and white felted mushrooms! I’ve never done any needle felting, mostly because I’m convinced I would stab myself instead of the wool.
Your mushrooms look quite lovely and there is that stabbiness! I have a felted needlework picture that I haven’t worked on in ages and I got a needle holder that holds three felting needles so you can cover larger areas more quickly and be extra stabby. I’ll have to keep needle felting in mind for when I’m done with simple cable crossings and sparkly yarn.
You’ve gotten me thinking that I should get out my needle felting stuff now — all that stabbing is really satisfying! I’ve mostly gotten out rage (some of it, anyway) through throwing punches during my workouts. I just picture a certain person’s face in front of my and punch away.
Your mushrooms are marvelous Kym! The stabbing action must be SO satisfying.
I’ve never done needle felting, but I can certainly see how satisfying it could be!!
I do have a needle felting project somewhere. It would come in handy now. I took a class in MA years ago to make a felted sheep and none looked like the sample that made us sign up. Then I’ve done flat picture like ones. It was fun but I always end up stabbing myself. The mushrooms are so cute!
Your mushroom project sounds quite satisfying. I have never tried needle felting although I admire the finished objects. I’m knitting a bit, stitching (embroidery) a wee bit. Late this afternoon I sat down with my spinning wheel and enjoyed that. One foot in front of the other and just not reading the news is helpful for me – today.
LOVE these so much … and glad you have someplace constructive to direct the stabby impulses. I’m reading and knitting – and finally making a bit of progress on both … it feels like the past week has lasted a year, and flown by. It’s weird.
I have a kit that I bought years ago, but haven’t yet tried. It may be time.
Those are adorable mushrooms! Definitely something good coming out of feeling stabby …
The mushrooms with the dots are just darling. I’ve never seen one IRL. They are unlikely to grow in Utah. At least you can make them grow where ever you are!
