Always here. Looking for . . .
But ohmygod sometimes it is so elusive.
Sometimes it feels like I will never find hope again.
And then . . . and then I wake up in the morning and discover that, while I was sleeping, a friend shared some with me overnight.
So please, take two minutes (ever-so-slightly less than that, actually) and watch this short video clip of Australian musician Nick Cave sharing his take on hope last August (keeping in mind that he has lost two sons himself).
Hope . . . lays waste to cynicism.
Keep looking for it.
(And thanks, Becky, for helping me find hope this morning.)
and all your readers are nodding, Amen…
Thank you so much for sharing that even when we don’t think we make a difference, we do… and we might never know it… so keep doing it! XO
What a marvelous clip and a wonderful/great message. Thank you for sharing.
I love how he explains that contempt is seductive and indulgent and that hopefulness makes some demands. I never thought about contempt being easy but I hope that I am up to the demands of hopefulness. Thanks for the clip!
I find that any time Stephen Colbert talks to someone about grief and loss, it is well worth hearing.
and doing the small good things are a way of holding on to hope – whether we feel it or not. That was beautiful.
What a great reminder that we have to fight for hope — and that it’s worth fighting for.
Lovely. Worth a bookmark.
I love that he talks about hope as an act and not a feeling. And it’s worth reminding ourselves that hope is the antidote to cynicism. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Lovely indeed. Wow. Thank you.
