Although I have offered musical interludes on the two previous Cup o’ Kindness Saturdays, today it’s time for something different today . . . a contemplative interlude!

Tonight is the longest night of the year – the winter solstice – which is a transition point of sorts. A shift. A reminder that change is always happening, always evolving. It’s dark now, yes. But the light is returning.

As a way to honor the solstice, try to find a quiet spot for yourself today . . . with some gentle light. Maybe a candle; maybe some twinkle lights; maybe the stars. And consider these questions . . .

  • How do I find my way in the darkness?
  • What kind of light attracts me; what kind of light do I find myself moving toward?
  • What kinds of light do I tend; are there lights that I want to maintain through the darkness?
  • How do I reflect light to others?
  • How might I share my light in the world?

Happy solstice, friends!
Be the light.

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

Fill your cup.
